School prepares you for exams. It doesn't prepare you for Tuesday.
Most school systems are built to teach subjects, not life. You can graduate knowing calculus and never once have practiced reading a lease, building a budget, or negotiating a starting salary. You can be accepted into a great university and have no idea how financial aid actually works, or how to manage a first bout of homesickness and anxiety without a script.
This isn't anyone's fault in particular — it's a structural gap. Curricula are built around standardized outcomes, and "how to function as an adult" doesn't fit neatly into a semester or a test. So it gets left out, over and over, for generation after generation, and everyone just has to learn it the hard way — usually through an expensive mistake or an uncomfortable surprise.
We think young people deserve better than trial and error for something this important.

When I was planning my future, I realized school had taught me how to succeed academically — but very little about navigating adulthood. I found myself searching across YouTube, Reddit, blogs, websites, podcasts, and social media, trying to piece together practical life advice from a dozen different places at once.
I was fortunate to grow up with an incredibly supportive family who always encouraged me and shared their knowledge whenever they could. But I also realized that even they had to learn many of life's biggest lessons entirely through trial and error — because a resource like WRLD simply didn't exist when they needed one.
That made me realize how many people don't have that same support system. Many young people are trying to navigate adulthood completely on their own, without anyone to ask the questions that feel too basic to ask out loud.
WRLD was created to become the resource I wish everyone had access to. Its purpose is to bring practical knowledge into one place — while allowing people to learn not only from educational resources, but also from one another.
Knowledge shouldn't stay with one person. It should be shared.
